RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Six Virginia State Parks now offer all-terrain wheelchairs in order to give guests with limited mobility more access — including one in the Richmond area.
According to Virginia State Parks, electric all-terrain wheelchairs are available on designated trails by guests with limited mobility at the following state parks:
- Powhatan State Park in Powhatan County
- York River State Park in James City County
- Mason Neck State Park in Fairfax County
- Shenandoah River State Park in Warren County
- Claytor Lake State Park in Pulaski County
- Wilderness Road State Park in Lee County
This project began as a pilot program in Mason Neck with the support of Friends of Mason Neck State Park and Del. Kathy Tran (D-Springfield).
Guests are asked to fill out this form at least 48 hours in advance in order to have access to an all-terrain wheelchair.
