Henrico woman wins $7M Virginia Lottery prize, store claims $10k bonus

A Henrico County woman recently won the $7 million top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s 500X the Money scratch-off ticket game.

Nathalia Pinheiro will receive a one-time cash option of $4 million before taxes, thanks to the ticket she purchased at the 7-Eleven at 3101 Lauderdale Drive in Henrico. The 500X the Money game is one of dozens of scratcher games offered by the Virginia Lottery, with prizes ranging from $50 up to the $7 million prize Pinheiro won.

This week, Lottery Executive Director Khalid R. Jones presented a $10,000 check to retailer Mehedul “Rony” Islam of the 7-Eleven. All stores that sell winning tickets receive bonus payments.

“This check is proof that partnering with the Virginia Lottery makes good business sense for a retailer,” said Jones. “Last fiscal year, businesses in the commonwealth that sell Lottery tickets earned more than $141.5 million in commissions and bonuses, which is a record amount.”

Money raised from the sales of lottery tickets in Virginia goes directly to K-12 education in Virginia. During the 2022 fiscal year, the Virginia Lottery raised more than $934 million for K-12 education, which makes up approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
