National Weather Service Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook for Portions of Virginia

The National Weather Service in Washington DC has issued a dual frost advisory and hazardous weather outlook for portions of Virginia and surrounding areas.

A frost advisory is in effect from 2am to 9am Thursday, October 10, 2024.

Temperatures as low as 33° will result in frost formation and could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Especially sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.

The advisory area relates to portions of western Maryland, the eastern and the panhandle area of West Virginia and northwest and western Virginia, including:

Garrett, Extreme Western Allegany-Central and Eastern Allegany, Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Page, Warren, Western Highland, Eastern Highland, Hampshire, Morgan, Hardy, Western Grant, Eastern Grant, Western Mineral, Eastern Mineral, Western Pendleton Eastern Pendleton.

Also included are the cities of Mount Storm, Romney, Ridgeville, Fort Ashby, Stanley, Front Royal, Brandywine, Mountain Lake Park, Paw Paw, Moorefield, Oak Flat, Headsville, Cumberland, Frostburg, Mount Jackson, Woodstock, Russelldale, Strasburg, Shenandoah, Hightown, Bayard, Oakland, Grantsville, New Market, New Creek,Harrisonburg, Luray, Keyser, Stuarts Draft, Staunton, Elk Garden, Antioch, Franklin, Riverton, Petersburg, Waynesboro, Monterey, Ruddle, and Sugar Grove.
