RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention took place this weekend, and plenty of people came out to enjoy the event in its 36th year.

People came out to the Double Tree Midlothian on Oct. 18 through Oct. 20 to attend the 36th annual Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention, which included tattoo artists, exhibitions, competitions and more.

Jesse Smith, owner of the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention, spoke with 8News about the importance of this event, especially in regard to its 36 year history.

“I think the most important part of this convention is making sure that we keep our foot in the historical side of it,” Smith said. “It’s got a lot of lineage, there’s a lot of history here — some of the best things that have happened in the tattoo world started right here in this hotel.”
