RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Do you know a father in the Greater Richmond region who might need a little extra help making the holidays magical this year? Nominations for the annual “Father Christmas” event are open until mid-November.
8News anchors Delaney Hall and Autumn Childress got the chance to talk to Chris Beach, the CEO of The Fatherhood Foundation of Virginia (FFVA), about this special chance to honor 25 local fathers.
Beach said that this event was born out of a desire to support fathers who are working hard for their families — potentially at multiple jobs, or while battling illness or facing other struggles — but may not qualify for traditional forms of assistance.

The holiday season can be especially demanding on a family already experiencing economic strain, yet these fathers still want and need to provide Christmas joy to their families, Beach said. As a father of four, himself, he told 8News that he knows how this feels firsthand.
