Richmond rapper Mad Skillz nominated for a Grammy

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The full nominations list for this year’s Grammy Awards was released last week, and among the names was Richmond’s very own Mad Skillz.

The Richmond rapper Mad Skillz — also known as Shaqwan Lewis — was nominated in the Best Spoken Word Poetry Album category, for his album titled “The Seven Number Ones.”

People may have seen him recently, as he performed at Dogwood Dell’s 67th Festival of the Arts this past summer, his first live show in over a decade.

Another Virginia artist, Shaboozey, was nominated for Song of the Year with his April release “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” Shaboozey is originally from Fairfax County.
