RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — StormTracker8 Chief Meteorologist John Bernier has officially announced his plans to retire at the end of April.
Having served with WRIC-TV since 1984, Bernier — known as J.B. to his colleagues and Central Virginia — is not only a cornerstone of the community and our 8News family, but a pillar of what we do every day to keep people informed and safe when severe weather hits.
Throughout his long career, J.B. has covered historic weather events and natural disasters, including Hurricane Gloria in 1985, the the 1993 Colonial Heights/Petersburg tornado, the 1998 Christmas Eve ice storm, Hurricane Isabel, Tropical Storm Gaston, the tornado outbreak from Fran and Ivan in 2004, the tornado outbreak of February 2016, the Florence tornado outbreak and so much more…
