Hopewell: Parents’ presence after high school fight was ‘unnecessary strain’ on security

Hopewell city school officials say a “physical altercation” Wednesday morning at Hopewell High School was taken care of “swiftly and appropriately,” and encouraged parents to stay out of the way and let security personnel do their jobs.

The exact nature of the fight and the number of people involved were not immediately released. A social-media post from Hopewell City Public Schools said classes were resumed “immediately” after things calmed down.

“Earlier this morning, there was a physical altercation at Hopewell High School,” HCPS posted on Facebook. “Our team responded swiftly and appropriately to secure the situation, and those involved were removed from campus.”

Apparently while the skirmish was being attended to, parents who had heard about it began arriving at the high school, with some of them even inserting themselves into the situation…
