RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two corrective action plans from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) into the Henrico Doctors’ Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) detail a plethora of discrepancies and misconduct, some of which being similar to information obtained and confirmed by 8News.
VDH finds Henrico Doctors’ NICU failed to prevent abuse of premature babies
The VDH’s Office of Licensure and Certification released the reports; one being a federally-requested survey completed by the Department on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the other is a state licensure survey.
The NICU faces an ongoing investigation after several babies were found with “unexplainable fractures” between 2023 and 2024. The VDH announced it’s temporary halt in acceptance of new admissions into the NICU because of this in late December 2024.
