Richmond tackling affordable housing crisis with tiny homes village

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) -A nonprofit organization is working to build a tiny homes village for the Richmond area’s homeless population to address the affordable housing crisis.

Eden Village is a national group with a new Richmond branch behind the effort in the River City. Cities like Wilmington, North Carolina and Springfield, Missouri, already have models of the community.

The idea is a neighborhood of about 30-40 tiny homes, each equipped with a kitchen, porch and living space. Rent for each unit is about $350 a month, including utilities. The homes will be built around a community center, store, social services building, garden beds and more…
