Richmond, Va. – Heavy rain and slow-moving storms are expected to bring flash flooding to central and eastern Virginia through late Saturday, prompting a Flood Watch across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, scattered showers and thunderstorms will redevelop this afternoon and continue into the evening, with rainfall totals reaching 0.5 to 2 inches—especially along the I-64 corridor. Areas including Richmond, Norfolk, Williamsburg, and Petersburg could see locally higher amounts where storms linger.
Flood-prone neighborhoods and urban areas face the highest risk as saturated ground from recent rainfall combines with today’s additional rounds of downpours.
