The folks at Virago Alley are back with another Richmond renaissance fair on Saturday at Agecroft Hall & Gardens.
Why it matters: It’s a chance to dress up, immerse yourself in medieval life and maybe throw an axe or two.
The big picture: “Warriors in Bloom” is the title and theme for Saturday’s event and focuses on “bold figures who dared to defy convention” (think, Joan of Arc).
- It’ll have a Richmond spin, showcasing the city’s artistic, “gritty and weird” side, organizers tell Axios.
- The fair is from Virago Alley, a local renaissance fair-themed nonprofit founded by Amanda Robinson, the woman behind Gallery5 in Jackson Ward.
What to expect: Like the Jackson Ward Ren Fair in March, this weekend’s event will feature combat demonstrations, themed food, local artisans, activities for kiddos and more.
- There will also be witch trials, ale, meade and cider, live music and performances, photo booths, and pickles on a stick.
If you go: “Warriors in Bloom” is Saturday, noon-5pm at Agecroft Hall, Richmond’s only 16th century Tudor manor. Adult tickets start at $15…
