Powerball fever growing across the commonwealth, $1M and $2M winning tickets sold

RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ) – As the lottery jackpot increases, so does the excitement and anticipation for the next Powerball drawing.

The commonwealth had more than 58,000 winning tickets in the Wednesday, August 27, drawing, but none matched all six numbers to win, said Virginia Lottery officials.

The winners from the last drawing:

  • $2 million winning ticket was bought at Weis Markets, 9801 Courthouse Rd. in Spotsylvania County.
  • $1 million winning ticket was bought at the 7-Eleven at 13511 Carrollton Blvd. in Isle of Wight County.

Three $50,000 tickets were also won.

  • Bought at Royal Farms, 1221 Warrenton Rd. in Fredericksburg.
  • Bought at Springfield Shell, 5533 Backlick Rd. in Fairfax County.
  • Bought online at valottery.com or the Virginia Lottery app, by a resident in Alexandria.
