Lottery ticket found in closet turns out to be $100,000 winner

Oct. 2 (UPI) — A Virginia woman cleaning her house found a box of lottery tickets in her closet — and one of them turned out to be a $100,000 winner.

Alfreda Hawkins told Virginia Lottery officials she was doing some cleaning around her Richmond home when she found a box in a closet containing some unscratched lottery tickets.

She soon discovered one of the tickets, a $100,000 Extreme Cash game, was a $100,000 top prize winner.
