Texas Inn diner celebrates 90th birthday with hot dogs for 90 cents

The Texas Inn diner, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, is turning 90. The first location opened in Lynchburg on Main Street on Oct. 11 in 1935. The actual 90th Birthday Celebration will take place on Oct. 9 at all four locations: Richmond, two in Lynchburg and Harrisonburg. Many locals in Lynchburg refer to the eatery as the “T-Room,” short for Texas Inn.

During the celebration, Jesse Jones hot dogs will cost 90 cents each at all Texas Inn restaurants.

The Progress-Index interviewed Texas Inn co-owner Dave Saunders who owns 95% of the business. The other 5% is owned by Molly Whitfield. Saunders owns several companies. He is the founder and “Chief Idea Officer” of Madison+Main in Richmond, which just celebrated its 20th birthday on Sept. 30…
