NORFOLK, Va. — The FBI’s Norfolk and Richmond field offices announced 122 arrests of violent offenders as part of a nationwide crackdown called Operation Summer Heat. The initiative, which ran from June 24 to Sept. 20, targeted violent criminals and fugitives, dismantled gangs, and rescued child victims with the help of state and local law enforcement partners.
The operation in Hampton Roads resulted in 47 drug seizures, 32 recovered weapons, and the identification of five child victims. FBI Norfolk Special Agent in Charge Dominique Evans said, “Keeping Hampton Roads safe requires strong partnerships and a shared commitment to justice. Operation Summer Heat demonstrates the power of collaboration—when federal, state, and local agencies work together, we make a real impact on violent crime in our neighborhoods.”
FBI Richmond Special Agent in Charge Ian Kaufmann added, “Throughout Operation Summer Heat, FBI Richmond and our law enforcement partners took coordinated action to hold violent offenders accountable and keep Virginians safe.
