RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – As the government shutdown continues with no clear end in sight, Feed More is preparing for a potential surge in demand from families struggling to put food on the table.
The Central Virginia food bank, which has been serving families across the region for years, already experiences high demand. It expects more people to turn to them for help as federal workers and contractors face uncertainty about their next paycheck.
“You’re going to start cutting into your emergency savings, and we also know that most Americans don’t have $500 in times of need. So the longer a shutdown happens, the more people will be looking for help,” said Aaron McClung, Feed More’s chief development officer…
