Many people have run at least one marathon, while others have never run any. Carolyn McKann is the exception. On Saturday, November 15, 2025, the 61-year-old mother will run her 50th marathon, and her 15th in Richmond, Virginia where she lives. After Saturday’s Richmond Marathon, McKann would have run 1,310 miles, according to WRIC 8 News.

McKann was invited to be trained by a coach and a team from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to run in its marathons. McKann’s first marathon was the Marine Corps Marathon through Washington, D.C. in 2002. After that first race, McKann was hooked. It had been her dream to run a marathon.
