RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Richmond’s Department of Public Utilities (DPU) are partnering up to launch a program focused on improving intersection safety.
The “quick-build pilot program” will be at four intersections throughout the VCU campus to improve intersection safety by left-turn hardening measures.
According to a joint release by VCU and DPU, left turn hardening is a “traffic calming measure that uses modular curbs and striping to reduce left turn speeds and reduce ‘corner cutting’ by drivers.”…
