PETERSBURG, Va (WWBT) — Residents lined up outside the Hope Center on Tuesday before the weekly food distribution began, but this week included an extra offering.
Live! Casino Resort donated 350 turkeys, providing one free turkey with each food box distributed to families.
“During the holidays, especially this year has been so trying, and being able to make a difference in people’s lives is so important,” said Renee Mutchnik of Live! Casino Virginia.
Petersburg resident Gwendolyn Allen called the donation “a blessing.”
The Hope Center operates food distributions every Tuesday and Thursday, in addition to other services like utility bill assistance. Director Scott Fisher said the center typically serves 80 to 85 families, but that number has grown recently…
