Richmond Moves Forward with Plan to Preserve Local History and Culture

Earlier this week in Richmond, Virginia, the Planning Commission advanced the Cultural Heritage Stewardship Plan (CHSP). The plan aims to identify, recognize, and conserve the city’s cultural and historical resources. It was developed by the Department of Planning and Development Review, with input from preservationists, historians, artists, planners at authentiCITY studio, and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. Residents and community leaders also contributed to the plan.

Mayor Danny Avula stated that the CHSP is important for Richmond to address its history and move forward. He said the plan supports his Mayoral Action Plan and offers a guide for sharing the city’s history. The CHSP builds on the goals in Richmond 300, the city’s comprehensive plan, which includes preserving significant sites and neighborhoods.
