CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – A Virginia man has been convicted of kidnapping a woman in the Midlands.
The Third Circuit Solicitor’s Office said Ronald Ray Broadnax, of Highland Springs, Virginia, pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary, kidnapping, second-degree arson, first-degree assault and possession of a weapon during a violent crime on Nov. 17.
Broadnax, who authorities identified as a person of interest in a Virginia homicide at the time, entered an Alcolu-area home without permission in March 2023. Prosecutors said he held a woman hostage and opened fire at law enforcement in a situation that lasted hours.
The hostage was eventually released, but Broadnax then tried to set the home on fire. The blaze was put out and Broadnax was later captured after a K-9 unit bit him…
