A Richmond-based development group is attempting to strike a deal with the City of Richmond to buy land south of the James River for a mixed-use residential project — a move that could unwind a long-term lease benefitting Richmond Public Schools.
In the final hour of the Richmond school board’s Dec. 1 work session, members said they weren’t expecting to weigh the possibility of relocating the district’s Commerce Road site — which houses facilities maintenance, school nutrition and contracted bus services — due to a potential sale.
