Housing projects in Petersburg and Hopewell are among 47 statewide chosen to receive loans for construction in what Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s office is calling a “record-breaking” amount of Virginia Affordable & Special Needs Housing funding.
On Dec. 18, the governor’s office released a list of the projects that will share in $154.5 million ASNH funding. On that list are Malone Place in Petersburg and Wells Pointe in Hopewell, both under the umbrella of Woda Cooper Companies, an Ohio-based company with an office in Richmond.
In a statement, the office said the loan amount represents “the greatest single investment in the Affordable and Special Needs Housing Program ever administered” by Virginia. Those loans will leverage $974 million in public and private resources which should yield up to $1.1 billion in affordable housing construction in the communities…
