RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – After presents are unwrapped and gifts exchanged, many residents will want to dispose of their Christmas tree, and Central Virginia Waste Management Authority is offering an environmentally friendly disposal option.
Christmas tree recycling will begin Dec. 26 for several CVWMA member localities, and residents are encouraged to participate to avoid improper disposal of trees. All surrendered trees must be free of tinsel, lights, ornaments, stands and water bowls.
The trees will be recycled into a mulch-type product that can be applied to the landscape. Real trees can also be placed outside to serve as a wildlife habitat…
