Shoppers weigh in on plastic bag tax as it takes effect in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – The new year means a new charge you’ll notice the next time you visit a grocery store in Richmond as the city implements a plastic bag tax.

Starting on Jan. 1, shoppers will have to pay five cents for each disposable plastic bag they get at a grocery store, convenience store or pharmacy.
