Space heater determined cause of Chesterfield house fire that injured 1

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) – One person was injured in a house fire in the Woodlake neighborhood in Chesterfield County on Thursday morning.

Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews responded to the fire on West Bay Road around 8:40 a.m.

“The first firefighters that arrived on scene found smoke coming from the second story windows and fire in an upstairs room,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS said. “They were able to mark the fire under control in about 10 minutes.”

Two people were at home when the fire broke out. One of the residents was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK. A cat was also rescued from the home…
