Ice-covered roads hurt businesses as city works to clear streets

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Icy roads and limited parking continue to impact businesses in Church Hill, with some shops, like The Beet Box on Jefferson Avenue, seeing reduced customer traffic.

“Some of the obstacles have been just the icy roads on the hill. Coming down [Shockoe] Bottom, coming up to Church Hill, and then the parking situation. So, a lot of the parking spots are just covered with ice,” said Whitney Smith, manager at The Beet Box.

Smith said the conditions have led to a dip in sales at their Church Hill location, similar to what they experienced during last year’s water crisis when they shut down operations for a week…
