The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities has launched “Back on Track with DPU,” a temporary account reset program aimed at customers with delinquent utility bills who are at risk of service disruption.
The program allows both residential and commercial customers to either bring existing payment plans current or enroll in a new PromisePay plan with extended repayment terms of up to 24 months. Standard PromisePay plans are typically capped at 12 months, a limit that will return after March 31st.
City officials describe the effort as a way to reduce long-standing delinquencies while recovering unpaid revenue. DPU Director Scott Morris said the program is intended to balance financial stability with flexibility for customers who have fallen behind.
