HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – For Black History Month, Dominion Energy and the Library of Virginia honored the “2026 Strong Men and Women in Virginia History” last week in Richmond, recognizing leaders whose impact has shaped communities and history.
Among this year’s honorees is Harrisonburg native Sheary Darcus Johnson, who integrated Madison College, now known as James Madison University JMU.
Dominion Energy spokesperson Cherise Newsome said that because Johnson was able to study and get her degree from what is now JMU, she has set the tone for many other Black men and women beyond the university…
