Virginia proposal would end farmworkers’ wage exemption, lifting minimum pay

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) — A half-century-old labor exemption up for debate in Richmond could change how farmworkers are paid across Virginia.

Right now, farmers are only required to pay their employees $7.25.

If this HB20 were to become law, that would raise almost five dollars an hour to the current minimum wage of $12.77.
