We’re past the halfway point of the 2026 General Assembly session, which means all legislation has had to “cross over” from one chamber to the other. The House of Delegates can only take up bills passed by the state Senate, and vice versa.

Emotions ran high in the days leading up to crossover, with some legislators even crossing themselves before presenting their bills in committee. Some of those prayers were answered, while others were left on the cutting room floor.
