$2B data center tax break fight pushes Virginia budget negotiations
Debate over a tax exemption that saved data centers nearly $2 billion in the last fiscal year has pushed negotiations on Virginia’s budget to the last possible moment during the 2026 regular legislative session.
Despite the efforts of lawmakers in both chambers, it appears increasingly unlikely that a deal can be reached by the time the General Assembly gavels out on Saturday.
