Flags to be lowered for ROTC leader killed in Old Dominion University shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WCSC/AP) — The victim who was killed in Thursday’s Old Dominion University shooting in Virginia has been identified.

A shooter identified as Mohamed Bailor Jalloh opened fire in a classroom at the university’s Constant Hall just before 12 p.m., killing one man and injuring two others. Students subdued him, and he was pronounced dead 10 minutes after police were called about the shooting. Officers have not yet specified the cause of the shooter’s death.

Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, who attended the university as an ROTC student, was shot and killed, Voorhees University confirmed. He was also the son-in-law of Charleston County Board of Elections chairman Dan Martin.

Shah returned to Old Dominion University in 2022 as a leader for the program. He had flown helicopters over Iraq, Afghanistan and Eastern Europe as a pilot in the Army…
