RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (VDWR) is experiencing an unexpected budget shortfall that could threaten wildlife management, policing, fish stocking and wildlife restoration programs, and outdoors outreach and education. It could also eventually lead to an increase in hunting, fishing, and boating license fees.
The annual budget at VDWR is roughly $70 million.
