Mohamed Hassan, of Glen Allen, VA, died in a crash on Tuesday morning, March 17, on the New Jersey Turnpike north near the James Cooper Service Area in Mount Laurel Township, New Jersey State Police said. At approximately 6:02 a.m., Hassan was driving a Chevrolet SUV when he struck the rear of a parked Freightliner tractor-trailer, according to NJSP spokesman Christopher Postorino.
After the initial crash, the SUV ran off the roadway and struck a light pole, and Hassan was pronounced dead at the scene, Postorino said. The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
