RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Happy April Fool’s Day!

Several Central Virginia authorities and businesses took to social media on Wednesday to participate in the nationwide celebration. From the launch of 30-minute flights to a sheriff’s office cancelling crime, here are some you might have missed — and some others you might have fallen for.

Nonstop flights from Richmond to Norfolk

Officials at Richmond International Airport (RIC) announced that they’re launching 30-minute round-trip flights between Richmond and Norfolk at the end of the month on April 31.

The post said it’s to save commuters time sitting in traffic so they can spend more time visiting “that one friend who insists the drive ‘isn’t that bad.’” Of course, April 31 is not a date on the calendar.

$2 cable rides to see downtown Richmond

Community nonprofit Venture Richmond said on Wednesday that plans for a skyline river cable system have been approved. The cables would take riders across the James River to see the skyline of downtown Richmond…
