Virginia Veterans Services to honor fallen heroes in 4 Memorial Day ceremonies

SUFFOLK, Va. — The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is honoring fallen service members by hosting four Memorial Day ceremonies across Virginia.

On Monday, May 25, DVS will be hosting ceremonies in Suffolk, Richmond, Amelia, and Dublin, to remember fallen service members from Virginia who have died in action.

The community is welcome to come to the ceremonies held at the following locations:

  • Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk (5310 Milners Road) at 10 a.m.
  • Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia (10300 Pridesville Road) at 10 a.m.
  • Virginia War Memorial in Richmond (621 South Belvidere Street) at 11 a.m.
  • Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin (5550 Bagging Plant Road) at 11 a.m.

In Suffolk, the scheduled speakers include Sloane Rose, Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Jay Krail. The ceremony’s emcee will be Dave Buchy, Commander, American Legion Post 88, and music will be sung by Lily Morgan. Attendees should arrive by 9:30 a.m. for parking and seating.
