RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Businesses could receive up to $7,500 for a new security system through Richmond Police and the city’s Department of Economic Development. It is a part of an effort to make the city’s streets safer in some of the more vulnerable neighborhoods.
The cameras will then be hooked up to the Richmond Police Department’s system, ‘CONNECT RICHMOND.’ There are almost 500 cameras already on the network.
“We can access their cameras in real time and kind of go back a few minutes and get a suspect description and then provide the officers in the field with description of suspects, direction of travel, and things of that nature,” RPD Capital City Intelligence supervisor Sherwood Jones said…
