Beloved Chesterfield roller rink to close after more than 40 years of business

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A family-owned skating rink in Chester will close its doors on Tuesday after more than 40 years of business, with the owners saying they have been “informed” that staying open is no longer possible.

Cindy Schrader, the manager and head coach at Chester Skateland in Chesterfield County, announced that the venue’s last day will be Tuesday, May 26. Final public skate and classes will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“There have been many rumors over the months that this day was coming, and we had hoped to extend operations for an additional three months to give our skating supporters more time to enjoy one last skate,” Schrader said in the announcement. “Unfortunately, we have now been informed that this will not be possible.”…
