Fontana approves transitional housing funding shift

The city of Fontana recently approved its Fiscal Year 2026-27 One-Year Action Plan, along with related amendments that will redirect $1 million from an affordable housing project to a transitional housing facility for low-income women recovering from substance abuse. As stated by Jessica Harrell, a city staff member, the city of Fontana is required to complete this spending plan annually.

“As an entitlement jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (…), the city of Fontana is to prepare and submit the 2026 Action Plan and the substantial amendments to the 2025 Consolidated Plan and 2025 Action Plan,” Harrell said. “The Action Plan
