A woman reported missing from Piñon Hills in late May was found dead in a desert area just steps from her home more than a month later, authorities announced Monday.
Loretta “Kay” Colwell Pilitsis, 55, was last seen near her home in the 900 block of Locust Road before she was reported missing May 25, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to the residence around 12:45 p.m. after receiving the missing person report and learned Pilitsis had left the home on foot, officials said.
An extensive search of the surrounding area followed, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and a K-9 team, but Pilitsis was not found…
