If you come across something that “looks like a bomb,” leave it alone – that’s the message from authorities in Ventura County after an unexploded Super Bazooka round recently washed up on a local beach.
Over the weekend, the Sheriff’s Department bomb squad, a homeless outreach team and the explosive ordnance disposal unit from Point Mugu Naval Base responded to a lifeguard tower at Mugu State Beach. That’s where a bazooka round from the 1950s washed up on the sand.
“The Sheriff’s Bomb Squad and Navy EOD unit examined the ordnance and determined the Super Bazooka round still contained live explosives and was too dangerous to transport,” the department said in a social media post…
