LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Health officials Wednesday were monitoring a nationwide surge in cyclosporiasis cases while emphasizing that Southern California has not seen a corresponding increase in infections.
According to the California Department of Public Health, there are no known local outbreaks of the intestinal illness anywhere in the state, and California has reported fewer cases so far this year than during the same period in 2025. Health officials nonetheless urged residents to thoroughly wash produce and follow food safety guidelines to reduce the risk of infection.
