Planning Commission approves 108 townhomes

The Fontana Planning Commission recently approved plans for a 108-townhome development within the Walnut Village Specific Plan. The project will be the first development approved under the specific plan since the city adopted an updated version in 2024.

“If approved, this will be the first development in the Walnut Village Specific Plan that was adopted in 2024,” Associate Planner Cecily Session-Goins said, delivering the presentation. “This specific plan has been in place since 1980, but back in 2024, we rescinded the original specific plan and adopted a new one with a new land use plan for the areas that were underdeveloped in the specific plan.”

Located in the Walnut Village Specific Plan, the project site spans 6.7 acres near the northwest corner of Baseline and Palmetto Avenues. Session-Goins said that the land is “largely undeveloped” with the exception of two single-family residential structures that will be demolished before construction begins…
