Law Enforcement Swiftly Resolves Moreno Valley Standoff, Ensures Safety of Juvenile and Family

MORENO VALLEY- Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station successfully apprehended a male suspect who was reportedly armed with a knife and making threats toward family members. According to the sherriff’s press release, the incident unfolded on January 22, 2024, at 8:14 a.m., in the 13000 block of Bearberry Drive.

The suspect, identified as Armando Martinez, a 24-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, had barricaded himself inside the residence with a minor upon the deputies’ arrival. The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station, recognizing the urgency of the situation, swiftly authored a search warrant for the residence.

The sherriffs safely apprehended Martinez without any incident and more importantly, the juvenile was located unharmed. There were no reported injuries to any family members involved in the incident.

A thorough search of the residence was conducted, revealing several evidentiary items pertinent to the ongoing investigation. Martinez has been subsequently arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and false imprisonment.
