Large Amounts Of Narcotics Smuggled Into Murrieta Detention Center

When visiting a jail or prison, it would seem impossible to smuggle any type of narcotics into the facility. Nothing is allowed, only car keys, no phones, and thorough searches are made. However, narcotics get past the check-in process somehow, and smuggling through the mail still exists.

At present the kind of narcotics attempting to be, at times, successfully smuggled in continues to reflect inmate preferences. Suboxone, Subutex, Xanax, heroin, cocaine, crack, K2/spice, methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy, and now, more popular than ever, fentanyl.

Most of the narcotic smuggling into our detention facilities comes from the outside, making its way in.

For personnel, keeping up with the new innovative ways smugglers are successful is a difficult task, and keeping up with the ingenuity is relentless. However, on January 26, 2024, four people were arrested for smuggling narcotics into Cois Byrd Detention in the Southwest portion of Riverside County, CA.
