The department called the crime scene a result of ‘heinous acts of violence,’ which likely involved ‘illicit marijuana’
Authorities have apprehended a group of suspects they say were behind the deaths of s i x people whose bodies were discovered in the El Mirage desert in California last week.
During a press conference on Monday afternoon, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department announced that they arrested five men who they say fatally shot six people in an isolated desert area approximately 50 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
“I can guarantee you we got the five right people, and we’re going to make sure this is a strong case and work very closely with the DA to bring them to justice,” Sheriff Shannon D. Dicus said during the press conference, adding that some appear to be “nationally” from Honduras.
All of the suspects have been denied bail.
Additionally, the department named four of the six victims, ranging in age from 22 to 45, while two have yet to be identified.
According to the department, deputies received a 911 call from someone who spoke Spanish on January 28, saying that they had been shot but did not know their location.
