RIVERSIDE, CA, (LAI) – Riverside County is witnessing a continuous rise in gasoline prices, marking the eighth consecutive day of increases. The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline has reached $4.542, up by 1.7 cents from the previous day. Over the last eight days, the average price has surged by 18 cents, with notable daily increases of 3.1 cents and 4.2 cents observed recently. This upward trend follows a period of declines where the price fell 10 times in 11 days, reaching its lowest point since December 31, 2022, as reported by the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Comparatively, the current average price is 17.4 cents higher than a week ago, yet it is 6.1 cents lower than last month, and 7.1 cents above the price from a year ago. Since reaching a peak of $6.373 on October 5, 2022, the price has decreased by $1.831.

Doug Shupe of the Automobile Club of Southern California highlighted that the Kinder Morgan gasoline pipeline, which supplies Southern California, began transporting the costlier summer blend of gasoline on Wednesday. This blend, mandated to be sold by April 1 in most local areas, typically leads to higher prices at the pump. The period from February through May could see further price increases due to potential supply shortages caused by both planned and unplanned refinery maintenance.
