Rialto Marketplace Shopping Mall became the scene of a swift response by local law enforcement after a security guard’s golf cart was reported stolen.
The incident occurred when a security guard, completing their shift, parked the golf cart in its designated area.
However, upon the commencement of the next shift, a coworker made the startling discovery that the golf cart had been taken, police said.
Video surveillance footage revealed a male suspect driving the stolen golf cart away from the location.
In a stroke of technological ingenuity, the cart was equipped with an Apple AirTag, a crucial detail unbeknownst to the thief, police added. Capitalizing on this, officers initiated a comprehensive investigation and successfully tracked the golf cart to the vicinity of N. Meridian Avenue and W. San Bernardino Avenue in the City of Colton, police said.
Officers promptly responded to the identified location, recovering the stolen vehicle. Simultaneously, they apprehended an individual matching the description of the suspect captured in the video surveillance footage. The alleged thief, identified as 44-year-old Bradley Dornin, a resident of the City of Rialto, was taken into custody, police said.
